June Favourites

08:36:00

Hola! I say hola because its July and its sunny, so I feel this greeting is most acceptable! I haven’t done a favourites post for absolutely ages, as I have been rather boring and haven’t really tried out THAT many new items, but never fear, I have a fresh new batch of bits to show you. I appreciate this is a little late, but it’s not quite the middle of the month yet, so I guess it’s still early July!

I’ve been really neglecting my skincare routine lately, and decided to get back in to it, with a luxury brand. Step up Sarah Chapman Skinless Age Repair Serum. I love the container- sounds a little silly but the metallic sleek finish and circular tube makes a welcome change from bulky pots, plus, it has a pump dispenser.

Excellent stuff! This fragrant, liquid formula has the texture of gel, and sinks into your skin in seconds, absorbing quickly with no residue. It includes vitamin A and C, which helps to tighten your skin and improve its elasticity which it most certainly does. The smell is rather pungent, but I wasn't put off by it. I apply this before bed, under my moisturiser, and my whole face always looks so fresh when I wake up. Expensive yes, but totally worth it. Moisturisers and creams often warrant the slightly larger price tags; you can’t scrimp on skin!

One of my favourite drug store makeup brands is Soap and Glory- I love the fun names and kitsch packaging. Their Solar Powder Bronzer is one of my hero products, and I have been re-introduced to it this month. This bronzer isn’t orangey, nor is it super dark; it gives a lovely natural shade that would complement a variety of skin tones. It has the darker, more matte side, and a highlighter section, which can be used to swirl together to create a delicate sheen, or on their own for maximum impact. A great value buy, which is very similar in texture and colour to Benefit Hoola! A truly great dupe.

So, I spoke in my previous post about my favourite primers, and following on from that, I have been really enjoying another product in their Porefessional range- the Matte Rescue. This shiny tube is a lightweight, water based gel. It is blue in appearance, and feels so strange when you first apply it! The idea is to smooth onto your face before primer, which helps to overpower shine and absorb even more oil than a primer. I use this in conjunction with the legendary Porefessional Primer and the combination of the two means my make-up literally will not budge, which is GREAT in this humid weather.

So, I know its boiling, but I still love an afternoon bubble bath, even in the summer. And when I do, I turn to luxury stuff, because for me, having a long bath is pure decadence! (I na  good way obvs!) I’ve been obsessed with The Sanctuary Luxury Bath Float. The newly packaged product is so gorgeous to look at, and you get a whopping 500mls worth, in an artistic style bottle complete with rose gold lid. And because you only need the tiniest of amounts, this bad boy LASTS. Poor under running water and hop in- and you can really smell the baobab and freesia flowers, which are main ingredients. I always feel my skin is so soft afterwards, and the scent is just sumptuous.

I have always loved the Rosie Huntington-Whitely beauty collection from Marks and Spencer, and was delighted to try this Divine Body Cream, which is new to her ever-expanding range. First of all- the tube is HUGE, and would look just peachy in your bathroom cabinet; as it comes in a glass tub with the signature rose gold lid, complete with an embossed rose. The cream itself is admittedly quite thick, but it absorbs quickly and gives the skin a lovely lush sheen, due to its light reflecting particles. It gives off floral aroma that smells incredibly flesh. A true joy to use that hits the mark perfectly. And for a tenner, you can’t go wrong!

I am constantly on the lookout for a great kohl eyeliner, and this crayon by L’OrĂ©al is a total gem. It’s from their Infallible collection, and is their very first waterproof gel liner. It claims that it is an impressive 24-hour wear. Now, personally I think that’s a bit of an optimistic claim; but it’s certainly incredibly long lasting and gives a lovely rich finish. I draw a fine line just above my lash line, and it really thickens up the look of my lashes, and compliments my eye shape.  It doesn’t smudge, nor does it transfer on to the lid. It’s a total winner!

Lastly, I have been totally in love with this Body Mist, which is from the new Being by Sanctuary range, aimed at Sanctuary’s slightly younger counter parts. This spray is literally the bomb!!!! It has a unique blend of fruits- particularly lychees and is so sweet! It very much reminiscent of the Victoria Secret sprays and is just smells good enough to eat! I spray this all over my body throughout the day, and it’s great before a meeting or occasion when you need to freshen up quickly. I love the illustration on the front- it’s so fun and gives the range a modern, up-to-the-minute look.
