February Favourites

Hello there! I know I say this EVERY month without fail but how blooming quick is this year going? SERIOUSLY?!!!!!! How can it be March?! Alas, such is life.

Kicking off with a fab new product from Batiste. I know they are best known for their dry shampoo (obvs) but this Hydrating Oil Mist is just brilliant. Its infused with Abyssin oils that claim to reduce breakage by 50%, which is no mean feat!

My hair can be quite brittle and is prone to breakages, so this offers a real nourishing finish- simply spray over the ends for a bit of shine, and, it def seals my split ends. It's a lightweight formula, so wont weigh your hair down or make it greasy.

I flit in and out of wanting to be ‘tanned’ and this month I’ve been obsessed with having a bit of colour on my face (not too much, don’t worry!) It means I don’t have to bother with foundation at all, and makes my life in the morning much easier. The tan Ive been turning to is Xen Tan Facial Tanner Luxe.  It has a thick, creamy consistency, and it’s easy to blend on your face after moisturiser. I smooth it on, taking extra care around my eyebrows and hair line just before bed, and it develops overnight, a real warm-toned, lightly tanned shade that isn’t overpowering. Use it sparingly though; it is rather dark. And, it doesn’t smell of biscuits!

Sometimes in life, you need a little luxury. I was so excited to try the rather infamous Oribe Gold Dust Dry Shampoo. It was in a beauty box I tried (more on that later in the week!) and I was itching to give it a go.

First of all- it instantly absorbs grease and doesn’t leave that powdery finish many others on the market do. And, the smell is divine.  A real fruity, perfumed scent, which almost gives off a tropical kind of aroma that lingers all day. A full size bottle is £36, but the quality is first rate- so I may have to take the plunge…

I used the Maybelline Color Tattoos many moons ago, but like many beauty products, I used it a few times, then it lay at the bottom of my make-up drawer forgotten when a newer product came on the scene.  However, in Boots the other day, I grabbed On and On Bronze; simply because I remembered how good it performed before, and I needed a rich brown. Wow-I wish I had never departed from this! It's is a wonderful, medium toned- bronze shade, which has no silly glittery particles, just a metallic shimmer that looks fabulous blended out. It’s a brilliant everyday shade that really lasts; I apply it in the morning, and it’s still intact at the end of the day. Such a reliable formula- and the epitome of a drugstore gem.

Primers are one of those make up items that aren’t necessarily imperative you use; but they are a handy product no less. My face can be a little oily around certain times of the month, and it’s good to control it with a hint of primer.

I’ve been reaching for the L’OrĂ©al Infallible Mattifying Primer, and it’s a goodun. It’s a transparent gel, that is silky, yet has a thick texture which instantly smooths the skin; it disperses well, and you don’t need huge amounts for it to make a difference. I really feel that my make-up looks heaps better once I’ve applied this first and it gives my skin a much fresher look in a jiffy, as well as combatting shine.

I’m always in line for a new bronzer, and I have been obsessed with this beauty by Kiko-The Design Flower Enriched Bronzer in Couture Sienna. It was released last year, and has since sold out, but you can buy it on the international site here. It has a wonderful matte finish; so absolutely no pesky glittery bits, so great if you’re a contour fan. The pink section is a built in blush, so you can swirl your blush for a warmer tone, or simply apply directly to the apples of your cheeks for a flushed look. The texture of the bronzer is super smooth, and its long lasting, as well as deeply pigmented. Not the glammest of packaging, but we will let that go, as the product itself is the shizzle!

Lastly, my lips have been so scabby and dry lately (yuck, apologises for that delightful mental image!) and they def need some TLC. I have used the original Nuxe Reve de Miel before and I love it, but pots can be messy and hard to transport in a mini clutch bag! So I decided to give the stick applicator a go.It smells rather wonderfully of chocolate orange, and coats the lips quickly and efficiently. it lingers for a lengthy amount of time and they feel so soft and supple afterwards! The stick is much more practical than the pot, and easy to pop in your handbag. A must! Go and buy it at once!
