The Big Chill Night

We are a nation of stressed people. Rushing around, doing copious amounts of chores, commuting, getting emotional, working ridiculously hard; it’s just a never-ending list! I am a firm believer that one MUST learn to chill the hell out. I find if I don’t set aside some time for me, myself and I, I get very rundown indeed.

I try and take part in what I affectionately call the ‘Big Chill Night’ once every two weeks or so, and it really does do me the world of good. First up; I remove all traces of makeup. Love your skin, and it will love you right back. Then, I run a hot bath, using my fave Radox bubbles. I sink into the tub for at least 20 mins. I put my phone away, and I just lie there, immersed in hot, soapy water. I find all stresses of the day leave me momentarily.

Then, once out and dried, I apply my much-loved Laura Mercier body cream to my bod, and Kiehls Ultra Face Cream to my face and put on my favourite Cath Kidston PJs, and UGG fluffy slippers. I perch myself onto the sofa, with a book, (NOT a kindle, I like to be old fashioned sometimes!) and a hot cup of tea.

We all know that a good night’s sleep is imperative, so try to switch your phone off at least half an hour before you nod off. I know it’s SO tempting to scroll through every social media portal going, but it really does you so much good to disengage from all that before you slumber. Its just a digital detox! Make sure you try and declutter your living space too. Mess makes stress, so tidy things away! Your mindset will be so more clear and zen-like if your living space is clutter free.

When you wake up the next day, you will (hopefully) feel rejuvenated and ready to take on the world. Sometimes the simplest things in life are the most effective.
