The Espadrille Edit

Espadrilles. They often divide opinion. My boyfriend for instance, could not quite fathom as to why I was lusting after a £400 Chanel pair. 'Laura they are just a bit of cloth on your foot' A standard mans response!

That passing judgement aside, espadrilles are so much more than beach shoes, which is what they were originally designed for. When you think of espadrilles, say, a good ten years ago, you would immediately think of holiday footwear that you dispose of when you depart the villa. Now, they are such a  fashion statement that many high-end designers carry their own signature pairs- Chanel, Valentino, and Christian Louboutin to name a few.
They have fast become a  summer fashion staple, due to being super light, easy to throw into your case, plus, teamed with jeans, or even a little dress, they can be worn throughout the warmer months for pottering about, even if you aren't jetting off to the Mediterranean.

Available in every colour you could possibly think of; they are adventurous with stripes, tassels, multiple textures, plus some soles are thick and almost have a platform, others are super slim. And, they are not just made from canvas anymore- some even boast real leather finishings! They are basically the new ballet shoe, but for summer.
They don't have to be loud and zany- they are some really classic pairs on the high street, in black and tan, but my personal favourites are the ones with embroidered motif's on the front. I need these avocado bad boys by Soludos in my life pronto!
