Bardot Tops

Summer Trend- Bardot Tops

Boobs are so last year. Shoulders are the new cleavage. You heard it here first! Seriously though, the Bardot top is having a real fashion moment this Spring/Summer. First things first, it’s basically a posh word for the 50’s famed off the shoulder top.  Bardot (after the legend that is Bridget) sounds so much more glam dontcha know! This trend can be worn so many ways- wear with culottes or midi skirts for a fashion forward appearance; with jeans for a laid back summery style, and pared with a pencil skirt for a dressed up, trendy look!

Collarbones, shoulders, and the neck are very sexy areas. You are basically showing a hint of skin, but still managing to appear demure and elegant. Perfect! Picking the right cut is important though- if you are super slim, you can afford to wear a cropped version, and if you want to cover up more, make sure its form fitting with more material. I wore this lace overlay number from F and F at Tesco- it’s not too short in the body, keeps the upper arms covered, and doesn’t show off so much skin that you need to yank it down. Plus it’s SO comfortable! I would say to prep your skin first, with lots of body scrub and mosituriser. And also, if you are big busted, make sure you invest in a well-fitting strapless bra. I was off out for dinner so wore the top with my faded denim Topshop jeans, Jimmy Choo wedges, and some drop chain necklaces from Freedom at Topshop. Easy!
