It’s the end of May- we are now entering
June. JUNE!! 6 months of the year down. How did that happen? I feel like its
kind of a given that when discussing monthly favourites, you aught to mention
the rapidly fast-moving year. So there we go, that’s my reference! I’ve
actually made some fabulous new discoveries this month, and cant wait to show
you.
First up, I decided to switch up my concealer
routine this month, and invested in the wonder that is Kick Ass Concealer by
Soap and Glory. This three-piece concealer set really is the bomb. On two
levels, in a handy pot with a cute mirror, you get an under eye brightening
concealer, a face concealer, and a setting powder. The orange-toned, under eye
concealer is buttery to touch and brightens up my eye bags, concealing my dark
circles. It blends well, and together with the powder, creates a flawless base
that doesn’t budge throughout the day. Even when my mascara smudges! The
superwear face concealer is quite heavy duty- the coverage is high so great at
camouflaging any spots and blemishes. All for a very reasonable £10.
I’ve been using my MAC Faux lipstick
together with my Spice lip liner all month long. These two are my must haves; I
really don’t go anywhere without them both lately. I did a review on these two
products earlier this month, check out the link here.
I squealed with delight when I heard about
the Piñata Colada collection from the Body Shop. I picked up the Body Sorbet at
once! As a Del Boy and cocktail superfan
(yes really) I made it my mission to try this. The thing you all will want to
know, is does it really smell like
the famous drink? YES. It does smell exactly like its namesake, sugary, fresh, juicy and super Moorish. The texture is very hydrating, which feels cool on the
skin when applied and absorbs easily. I
can’t wait to try the exfoliator!
I have been using this Instant Smooth Self Tanning Primer by Clarins for years now, but didn’t repurchase it for a couple of months as I
thought I’d give a few other tans a go. None of the ones I have tried have
quite lived up to this! Its rather a unique product; in that it’s a actually a
primer, with a hint of self tan in it. It’s a whipped, gel like substance that
smells to me of Mr. Kipling’s Cherry Bakewell cakes. Weird huh? I dot a few pea
sized splodges on both my cheeks, forehead and chin, and gently rub in. It
basically instantly gives your face a warm, tanned colour, which isn’t too
orange. Its lightweight, blends easily; at the same time smoothing out fine
lines and gives your skin a luminised, soft appearance. It also comes off when
you remove your make-up, letting your skin breathe. It develops throughout the
day, but doesn’t clog my pores or break me out. I use this constantly, and this
little tub usually lasts me a good four months. A great alternative to
foundation, especially in the Summer months.
I reviewed this this lip scrub from Primark last
week, and I’ve been in love with it ever since. The granulated formula gently
buffs dead skin cells away, leaving them soft and kissable. Plus, it has the sweetest of smells. As I
love matte lipsticks, its important to keep my lips in good condition at all
times, and this does the trick!
Lastly, these two bad boys are another repurchase,
and yet again, I’d forgotten how great
they are. Lee Stafford Hair Growth shampoo and conditioner are hugely popular
and have been on the market for quite a duration now. I’ve used them before,
but picked them up again in Boots recently and I honestly cant recall why I
stopped using them in the first place! The loud and proud pink packaging is
vibrant and eye catching, like all Lee’s products. The smell (in my humble
opinion) is quite heady, and reminds me of Thierry Mugler Angel perfume oddly
enough! I actually frikin love the smell, but if you hate that particular scent you wont be a fan. However, the
range is protein based and claims to nourish the scalp and hair follicles,
which in short, should make your hair grow at a faster rate. I have to say, it really does enrich the hair
after use, and every time I use this, my hair just generally feels thicker. I’m
not sure how much my hair has grown exactly since I started using the duo (it
needs a cut FYI) but it’s definitely grown and looks in better condition. I
will be repurchasing, along with the hair mask! Slightly more expensive than a
regular drugstore shampoo, but that’s ok, as the quality is first rate.
